Running
Code:

[I] net-analyzer/ntop
     Available versions:  (~)3.3.9[1] 4.0.1 4.0.3 {ipv6 nls ssl tcpd}
     Installed versions:  4.0.3(09:38:08 29/07/11)(ipv6 ssl)
     Homepage:            http://www.ntop.org/ntop.html
     Description:         tool that shows network usage like top

I see regular messages in my /var/log/messages file, as follows :-
Code:
Sep 26 11:23:27 pearcely ntop[25940]:   **WARNING** RRD: rrd_update(/var/lib/ntop/rrd/interfaces/eth0/throughput.rrd) error: unknown option '--daemon'

Any suggestions I how I can suppress this message?

I worked around the problem by updating my syslog-ng configuration to filter out the unwanted messages, something like the following

Code:

filter      f_discard      { not match("rrd_update" value("MESSAGE") ); };

log { source(src);  filter(f_discard); destination(messages); };
