Hi,

I have my macbook pro 8,2 working fine with various patches for discrete radeon gpu and the broadcom b43 modules.
I'm running gnome3, git-sources-3.1-rc10, grub2 efi boot (triple boot environment), and most recent packages (~amd64).

Details refer to this forum: https://forums.gentoo.org/viewtopic-t-891920.html

All works fine except the intel i915 igu & switcheroo under sysv init openrc environment.

Someday, I try the systemd in gentoo overlay.

With some modification and systemctl enable services, I able to work in the systemd environment. However, the b43 module becomes unstable, with couples of rebooting the machine, the b43 modules & firmware occasionally properly loaded and work. But suspend to ram and resume never get that modules back to work.

I found that output from lspci -vv is different from both environment:

Maybe that passed different information to udev for loading incorrect firmware.

Although the error msg said" "b43/xxxxx.fw" file not found, I cannot figure out why the files cannot be found...

A diff output of the above two messages:

After couple of changes and tests, I come up a more detail error msg:

update packages to:

systemd-37
udev-9999

dmesg output when b43 fails to start in gnome3 (wireless unavailable):

I test with another usb wireless dongle with the following error:

This wireless device works previously using sysvinit openrc environment.

So I assume the problem not only relate to b43 ....
