Hi,

I have some problems with printing using opera.
Opera ignores the page range for printing (from and to) and the setting for colour/grayscale. It always prints the whole set of HTML pages from the first to the last page using colour.
This happens when printing with a cups connected printer, but also on PDF/PS printing to file, however it is most annoying when printing on a real printer with cups because of the waste of paper and ink when I just want to print one page of the page in b/w.
Current version of opera is 11.60 on arch amd64 stable, but the problem is present at least since opera 10.
I did not find anything about this in the opera forums, and as a gentoo-only user I cannot say whether this happens on other linux distros, too.
Any hints on this?

tom

Opera is not FOSS so it's hard to debug. Try printing to PDF file and then edit the file before printing

printing to pdf is also broken in opera. See http://my.opera.com/community/forums/topic.dml?id=1102662
I reported this quite a while ago, and I don't see any changes even in the alpha and beta versions.

Thank you for your answers.
At the moment I am using "print to PDF" and then print only the pages that I really want. But this is not very convenient. Perhaps I should try to report this at opera forums because it seems not to be gentoo related.

@ppurka: I did not notice that printing to PDF is also broken. The files generated look like ps but both evince and okular open them without any error or warning message. However I did not try adobe reader yet.

Both evince and okular (in fact most graphical programs on linux) do not go by file extensions in order to determine the type of the file. They instead rely on the properties of the file itself (magic patterns inside the file). So, even if you rename your pdf file as .avi, and then open it via okular or evince, they will open it just fine.

Other Opera Linux users confirmed this, so I now filed a bug at opera.com
Let's see whether this helps or not (I do not have any experience with opera buglists).
