According to the handbrake log, package webkit-1.0 is missing. See line 1120.

I don't think it is the cause of the problem , it is at the middle of the log and the emerging continue after.
Also webkit package doesn't exist

I just can't stop chuckling ... you are telling Hu he is wrong? There is an error in that log, what's after that is irrelevant. BTW, this ebuild probably is outdated, and yes, there are webkit packages. Try running eix webkit.

TryStar: it appears that each of the failures has a different root cause. The handbrake log looks like it was built with a parallel make and that one of the targets of the master Makefile required it to run configure in a subdirectory. That configure run failed, so the make as a whole was a failure. Often, you can identify errors more readily if you use MAKEOPTS=-j1, since that will reduce the number of unrelated success lines that follow the failure line.

With makeopts=-j1 : https://gist.github.com/2018430 (too big for pastebin)
Thanks for the input.

Still same error. I'm still saying the ebuild may be outdated. Did you look at the ebuild?

Edit: There is more than one

Just ran in to the same issue with the ebuild from the multimedia overlay.

Webkit-1.0 is available in portage as net-libs/webkit-gtk:2. The ebuild only depends on "net-libs/webkit-gtk" (no slot). I had webkit-gtk:3 installed which satisfied the ebuild, but handbrake wouldn't compile.

After emerging net-libs/webkit-gtk:2 handbrake did compile and seems to be working. Haven't ripped any DVDs with it yet, but the GUI comes up.

So the steps to get handbrake working for me were:

Code:
layman -a multimedia
emerge net-libs/webkit-gtk:2
emerge handbrake
