Hi all, I've got a problem trying to get booting to work.

I've got the UEFI BIOS starting grub2, and I've got grub2 recognizing the raid5 (my md/raid5-main drive shows up).

However, after that's done, I insmod lvm and nothing happens - no messages and grub2 doesn't show any additional drives.

Is there some trick to this? Do I have to partition the md device so that grub knows to look at an LVM inside it? Is there a way I can manually tell grub2 where to look for lvm physical volumes?

Thanks for any info or suggestions!

Update:

I have done some additional testing - systemrescuecd uses the same version of grub (from gentoo), and this grub works properly with raid/lvm (and is compiled with efi support).

As a workaround, I will take the grub from systemrescuecd until whatever problem this is gets figured out.

I wonder if it could be architecture related - the systemrescuecd appears to be using a 32 bit compiled grub2 whereas I'm using 64 bit.

That's what I thought at first too, but it's on. Both the dmraid1x and lvm grub modules are there in the efi partition and load without error from the grub command line, but for some reason the lvm never gets "mounted". The raid volume the LVM is inside does show up however as do all the component drives.

As a side note, I can't get the "emu" grub2 platform to compile either, emerge bails out with a makefile rule not found, otherwise it would be interesting to compare behavior inside linux and see if it's any different than at system boot time.
