Hello guys!

I'm currently trying to install Gentoo on a existing Windows (7) installation.
I was able to partition my disk into 2 partitions: a 20GB swap and an about 200GB root-Partition.
I flagged the root one as bootable (the Windows one is too) and tried to mount the root-Partition into "/mnt/gentoo".
After I hit the enter-button the error message "NTFS signature not found.. maybe blabla..." appeared, but I chose the right partition (sdb4).

I know you maybe need the partition-table but I found no way to copy that (maybe you can tell me a method to do so), but it looks like that:

sdb1 * ........ NTFS/exFAT
sdb2 ........ NTFS/exFAT
sdb3 ........ Linux swap
sdb4 * ........ Linux

I hope I was able to explain my problem to you.

Thanks for every answer!

esphaglion,

Welcome to Gentoo.

What software are you using to install Gentoo ?
e.g. Gentoo -minimal.iso ... System Rescue CD ... some other random liveCD ?

What file system type did you make on sdb4?
You cannot install Gentoo onto a NTFS filesystem as NTFS does not support Linux permissions.
