I burned gentoo x86 to a disk and when I try to boot into it, it gets stuck on the loading screen saying acpid started. In the bottom left of the screen it says 52% complete. Here are my specs:

Motherboard
MSI Z77A-GD65 (MS-7751) (SOCKET 0) 28 °C

I just started from scratch and had to use the 20130502 iso to get it to boot. But system Rescue is a much nicer install platform and is based on Gentoo and uses Xfce. I switched or over after doing the base install.

So I will have to re-download the other release to get it to work?

Edit: I should mention that it works just fine on my laptop.

If you read a little deeper into Gentoo Handbook you will realize nothing from "install CD" becomes part of your Gentoo. Meaning you can boot any up-to-date Linux CD and install Gentoo. Gentoo has no releases, either. It is a rolling meta-distribution, you create your own Linux install using tools provided by Gentoo developers. The resulting installation is yours, if it malfunctions then it is your fault, if it is slower than Ubuntu then it is your fault, too. :P
