|Hello, This is my very first post, ... here I go!
I am running under Gentoo Amd64, v.3.8.13.
ISSUE: Upon powering up my machine, when I choose the (Rescue) boot option from the Grub boot menu screen, press-Enter, then, ... upon boot, ... the screen stops running -&- ends with the message, ... "---[end trace]---"; this, of-course, ... is accompanied by a continuously blinking 'underscore' ( _ ) on the black screen -AND- a blinking LED light from my monitors' alpha padlock icon.
NOTE: It should be noted that " I CAN " successfully boot into the default Gentoo Linux Grub menu option.
1. What is strange, is that, ... somehow all the Grub folders and files are placed in a *separate folder* ... called, "bootcpy/" .
a. I tried to copy all the grub folders/files into the proper boot folder location, then did a reboot; ... nothing changed; ... (Rescue) option still didn't boot, at-all.
2. I copied the grub.config & fstab, ... verbatim, from the Gentoo AMD64 Hand-book.
a. The grub.config menu entry for (Rescue) option, is an exact copy of the default menu entry, ... PLUS the entry:
NOTE: I tried to cut/paste the:
entry from the default menu entry ... to the (Rescue) menu entry, ... then rebooted. Here again, ... complete failure to boot into (Rescue) mode option. *** Screen just hangs with message of, "end trace."
|initrd /boot/initramfs-genkernel-x86_64 |
3. I re-emerged "BusyBox", rebooted, and got same results; failure to boot into (Rescue) mode option.
Can someone please offer there expertise in solving for this issue of not being able to boot into Rescue mode upon machine power-up.
Thank you so much.
