Hi,

I am configuring kernel for core 2 duo CPU. Wiki guide http://wiki.gentoo.org/wiki/Intel_Core_2 says best option is (X) Core 2/newer Xeon
Linux source(3.8.13) is from gentoo-sources

But options in menuconfig are only there:
Code:

( ) 486
( ) 586/K5/5x86/6x86/6x86MX
( ) Pentium-Classic
( ) Pentium-MMX
(X) Pentium-Pro
( ) Pentium-II/Celeron(pre-Coppermine)

Is possible add Core 2/newer Xeon to processor family? Or what's wrong?

Than you for all answers

Code:
eselect kernel list
3.8.13 selected?
or are you using a legacy .config that has not been run through
Code:
make oldconfig
?

the choices you show were displayed a year or so ago

3.8.13 produces:
Quote:
( ) Opteron/Athlon64/Hammer/K8
( ) Intel P4 / older Netburst based Xeon
(X) Core 2/newer Xeon
( ) Intel Atom
( ) Generic-x86-64

If you are trying to build a 64 bit system you should use the amd64 version of the stage3 tarball.

x0fis,

Welcome to Gentoo.

It looks like you have performed a 32 bit install, so you only get to choose from 32 bit CPUs in your kernel.

What live Linux did you use to host your install?
What was the file name of the stage3 file you downloaded ?

Something very fishy is going on there, even the 32-bit list should be much longer than that.
