|When I boot my encrypted system I see the following:
* Checking local filesystems ...
fsck.ext4: No such file or directory while trying to open /dev/mapper/cryptvg-root
Possibly non-existent device?
* Operational error [ !! ]
Then the system continues to boot as normal.
My question is why is /dev/mapper/cryptvg-root missing? This is the encrypted device contained in /dev/sda2 on my system.
ls -al /dev/mapper/ only shows "control", yet running mount shows that /dev/mapper/cryptvg-root is mounted on /.
Also noteworthy might be that my /etc/fstab seems to be ignored. I have:
/dev/sda1 /boot ...
However /dev/sda1 does not get mounted to /boot.
Edit: Even running vgchange -ay, vgscan, etc, does not help. There is still nothing under /dev/mapper.
