Hi,
I have my two monitors under E17 being treated like one big monitor: when I ask a window to maximize it takes both the monitor, instead of taking one single monitor.

How can I fix that?

Did you enable the xinerama use flag? You need to enable that flag and then do something like:
Code:
emerge -av -uDN world

The word xinerama has two different but related meanings. One of the meanings is the effect you want; windows are aware that you have two monitors and where they are. The second meaning has to do with the xinerama extension to X11 which is hardly ever used any more. It allows the X11 server to put one screen across two (or more?) monitors but the performance is abysmal so almost no one uses it. Most systems now rely on the graphics card (or xrandr?) to do this. But you still need to make your applications xinerama aware or they won't know you have two monitors and not just one big one.
