When I boot my Gentoo, there is a long delay at
Code:
[    1.325727] tsc: Refined TSC clocksource calibration: 2095.240 MHz
[    1.325842] Switching to clocksource tsc
and
Code:
[   61.469316] [drm] Loading CAICOS Microcode
I don't really understand what these messages mean, how can I configure my kernel to boot smoothly?
Also, I have noticed that there are some error messages in the dmesg output,
Code:
$ dmesg |grep -i error
529:[  121.661174] [drm:evergreen_startup] *ERROR* Failed to load firmware!
533:[  121.662558] [drm:evergreen_init] *ERROR* radeon: MC ucode required for NI+.
534:[  121.662639] radeon 0000:01:00.0: Fatal error during GPU init
540:[  121.670351] radeon: probe of 0000:01:00.0 failed with error -22
809:[  123.565517] EXT2-fs (sda9): error: couldn't mount because of unsupported optional features (240)
this seems to be graphics related, I have hybrid graphics, could someone tell me how to make these errors go away?

Your kernel is stalling while it waits for firmware to load. If you make that firmware available, it will be loaded immediately and there will not be a stall. The specific firmware names should be written to dmesg around the time that the error happens. The simplest solution is to emerge linux-firmware to get the files, then embed the required firmware into the kernel image.

I built the required firmware into the kernel but it still hangs at
Code:
[    1.323239] tsc: Refined TSC clocksource calibration: 2095.240 MHz
[    1.323351] Switching to clocksource tsc
Any idea?

The kernel requires another radeon firmware to boot smoothly. I have already solved this problem.

Thanks for reminding me to recheck the dmesg output.
