I find it frustrating when I click on a link in evolution and it clobbers my current Firebird window, so I did some digging and found some instructions on how to have links open up in new tabs instead:

http://texturizer.net/firebird/tips.html#beh_reuse

One hint - your user.js file doesn't exist by default, you have to create it manually. Those instructions are found on a different part of the aforementioned link.

Enjoy!

Hey there,

I am having some problems with the Tabbrowser extension. I can access the options of it when i load up Firebird as root, but when I try with my user account, Firebird locks up. Does this have something to do with read access to the install path? If so, where are these installed? I can't seem to find it... :/

Cheers

Another solution would be to edit '/usr/bin/MozillaFirebird':
Code:

${FIREBIRD_PATH}/MozillaFirebird -remote "openURL($@ ,new-window)"

should be:
Code:

${FIREBIRD_PATH}/MozillaFirebird -remote "openURL($@ ,new-tab)"

Hey, good tip!

I'm not sure if this is because of the recent Firebird update, but mine defaults to "-tab" now, and they've moved it out to a script variable - $newtype.

Interesting.

Thanks :)
