Handbook asks to make changes to /etc/conf.d/net file but there is no pre exesting net file in my conf.d folder. Also there is no net.example.bz2 in /usr/share/doc/openrc-0.12.4 folder. There is only a single file in openrc folder i.e. README.busybox.bz2 . Although the net file can be created from scratch, I wish to know if i missed a step that caused this to happen. I've got nForce 4 series chipset and i was sure to enable nvidia ethernet while making .config in kernel.

Set the netifrc use flag and remerge sys-apps/openrc. That will get you net-misc/netifrc which now contains the whole networking stuff, such as /etc/init.d/net.lo.

Then you can use the exampe config as a starting base:
Code:
bzcat/usr/share/doc/netifrc-*/net.example.bz2 > /etc/conf.d/net
