This thing used to work perfectly... 2-3 years ago. It looks like the USB ID for it is absent in the kernel I'm running though: neither wacom.ko nor hid-waltop recognise it, and xf86-input-wacom ignores it too.

It functions as a dumb mouse (no pressure sensitivity) using evdev but I'd really like to get it working without having to hack up my kernel sources. All sites I've seen on the web talk about tablets with similar names but slightly different IDs and I don't know if making the kernel think it's one of those would work.

Here's all the relevant log fluff:
dmesg:

(I've tried making both mouse1 and event15 chmod 0660, but that doesn't change the EE line above)
/etc/X11/xorg.conf.d/52-waltop.conf:

   Identifier "Waltop tablet"
   MatchProduct "WALTOP"
   MatchIsTablet "on"
   MatchDevicePath "/dev/input/event*"

EndSection
