I just recently changed my whole setup and decided I don't even need lvm anymore, just one luks partion for everything, don't need swap so don't have to worry bout that either. anyway when booting it ask for my passphrase, unlocks /dev/sda2 and say's /dev/mapper/cryptdisk is not a valid root device, my fstab seem correct and so do the kernel prams. I guess I'm so used to setting up lvm that maybe I missed something

so I changed the kernel parameter from root=/dev/mapper/cryptdisk to root=/dev/mapper/root and it boots
so my fstab should be /dev/mapper/root / ext4 [options] etc...

but this still is not making since to me, I thought I could use any name for the luks partition i.e /dev/mapper/encvol and grub is the one that applied that the the kernel parameter, so I'm still confused.
