I was wondering if anyone knows how to configure a 4G LTE modem in IP passthrough mode? I have a Netgear AC341U (Sprint network) which has a NAT and IP passthrough mode. It uses the GobiNet and GobiSerial drivers. In either mode, it brings up an ethernet interface and two serial devices at /dev/ttyUSB0 and /dev/ttUSB1. In NAT mode, you configure it to dhcp on the ethernet device and it will grab an internal ip address from the modem since the modem is acting as a router. When I change the modem to ip passthrough mode (using the windows executable that netgear provided), it still brings up the same interfaces but the usb pid has changed from 9055 to 9057 and dhcp no longer works on the ethernet interface. Here's what happens when I plug it in in ip passthrough mode:

Jan 1 18:28:47 gloin [ 23.135953] systemd-udevd[987]: renamed network interface eth1 to ppp0

I renamed the interface ppp0 in udev because I though it might be a ppp interface but I'm not sure how to configure it.

Here's what it does if it's configured as regular ethernet with dhcp:

Here's what it does when I try ppp where ppp_link was set to ppp0 (with a chat script that worked for a sprint 3G modem -- I also tried /dev/ttyUSB0 and /dev/ttyUSB1 as the link but that didn't seem to work either):

Does anyone have any idea how this modem might be configured in ip passthrough mode? Maybe I didn't configure something properly in one of these modes? Netgear documentation is small and only applies to windows. The netgear documentation for this can be found here:
