HI,

I have two scanners a flat bed cannon FB630U and Minolta film scanner.
Code:

ls -ail /dev/usb*
1469 crw-rw---- 1 root root    189,   0 Jan 10  2014 /dev/usbdev1.1
1763 crw-rw---- 1 root root    189,   1 Jan 10  2014 /dev/usbdev1.2
1754 crw-rw---- 1 root root    189,   3 Jan 10  2014 /dev/usbdev1.4
1472 crw-rw---- 1 root root    189, 128 Jan 10  2014 /dev/usbdev2.1
1778 crw-rw-r-- 1 root scanner 189, 129 Jan 10  2014 /dev/usbdev2.2

The flatbed is getting set to scanner group but the other not, which means I can't access it.

None of this is mintioned in /etc/udev/rules.d , where do I need to look to find out where the first one is set and to configure the second one?

TIA. Gentree. 8)

Hi

check the file /lib/udev/rules.d/41-libsane.rules for what is done on your working scanner

then use
Code:
lsusb
to get your idVendor and idProduct entries (numbes of ID entry, first is vendor)
and add a new file for it in /etc/udev/rules.d/

my 55-libsane.rules looks like:
Code:

# Brother scanners

ATTRS{idVendor}=="04f9", ATTRS{idProduct}=="01eb", MODE="0660", GROUP="scanner", ENV{libsane_matched}="yes"

Thanks. I don't have that file but I'd fixed it by adding a rule like that to one of my files in /etc/udev/rules.d

since no one replied here I'd forgotten I posted.
