Hi!
I'm having problems setting up volume keys (up, down, mute) buttons on my Lenovo SL500 laptop. (this are dedicated keys).
I have found some link on the web most of them on thinkwiki page but I wasn't able to set up keys.
I have build thinkpad_acpi module but i can't load it because of the following error:
Quote:

sl500 ~ # modprobe thinkpad_acpi
modprobe: ERROR: could not insert 'thinkpad_acpi': Input/output error

dmesg output:
[ 948.367858] thinkpad_acpi: ThinkPad ACPI Extras v0.24
[ 948.367863] thinkpad_acpi: http://ibm-acpi.sf.net/
[ 948.367865] thinkpad_acpi: ThinkPad BIOS 6AET46WW, EC unknown
[ 948.367867] thinkpad_acpi: Lenovo ThinkPad SL500, model 2746A27
[ 948.368253] thinkpad_acpi: detected a 8-level brightness capable ThinkPad
[ 948.368280] thinkpad_acpi: acpi_evalf(DHKN, d, ...) failed: AE_NOT_FOUND

My .config file: http://pastebin.com/Tdh1Tmyz

Any ideas?

P.S.
Until two days ago I used Sabayon installation and on this laptop and this volume keys worked perfectly! So I know that there is a way of making this keys work but I have no idea how. :-/

The problem is most likely that the SL500 is no "real" thinkpad but according to firmware in truth an ideapad[1].
Most likely your issue can be solved by activating (and possibly loading CONFIG_IDEAPAD_LAPTOP in your kernel config.
