Something weird happened to my SSD.
It was working fine, I replaced the motherboard and it suddenly started getting corrupted. It was connected to SATA0 port. I figured the drive is bad and replaced it with a regular hard drive, connected to the same port. I ran smrtctl and it was unable to retrieve any data from this HDD. I plugged it into SATA1 port and all problems went away. Out of curiosity I plugged this SSD to SATA1 and it works no problem, passes smartctl test, etc. However, it still displays lots of bad blocks and read errors from past. Are those bad blocks real or bogus? Is there any way to reset/reuse those blocks (as low level format in ancient times)?

It probably just had some problem reading a block. I think they deliberately made it hard for users to reset them in fear of people making their old worn out drive "brand new" once more, though there should be a way - it's like an odometer...
It's most likely using its spare blocks anyway so you still have full capacity of the disk.
