Gentoo on PC,

How can log the output from all the programs starting during bootstrap ? Currently, the only output avilable after bootstrap (in "dmesg") is kernel output, but not the otput from the services being started.

I often have the effect that there are errors flying by, but they are too fast to catch before something later on during bootstrap clears the screen and/or X-windows starts up.

So, would really love to know how to capture the bootstrap output... better than me doing extraneous bootstraps with my camera put in front of the screen and set to movie recording *sigh* ;-))

Thanks!

Uncomment the line

Code:

rc_logger="YES"

in the /etc/rc.conf file

The log will be /var/log/rc.log

Then you don't need to worry about logging anything :)

I _want_ to boot the PC, alas it's the family XBMC/VDR PC, so there are service windows only ;-))
