Hi everyone,

So, to say it first i 'm not a linux expert. But i'm willing to try to get gentoo on my machine !!
I've followed the install handbook. My partition scheme is a lot simpler since i don't see why it should be complicated (with /boot partition, etc)
Code:
/dev/sda1,2 ==> window 8(preinstalled)
/dev/sda3 => gentoo, bootable

my fstab looks like this
Code:
/dev/sda3  /   ext4     defaults, noatime,discard     0 1             (because i got a SSD)

I'm up to the point of installing the grub2, but when i do
Code:
grub2-install /dev/sda
, it just says
Code:
path /boot/grub is not readable by grub on boot. (....)

Another thing : the /boot/grub is accessible, and is created , and there are things inside !! i've run
Code:
grub2-install --debug
and it seems that it has almost finished installing (because it has put most of the files in place in /boot/grub)
Also in case you are wondering, i have well chroot into the environnement (+ mounted proc, dev sys )
So the question is : WHY ? =) or just HOW to repair that ?
Maybe because i should have a /boot partition ? but i don't think so as i've tried installing gentoo on virtual machine, all in one partition and it worked also ...
I'm writing this on the laptop of my girlfriend so i canno't post long log ... :(

Thank you anyway, grub related questions are sure not the best ... :D

That error normally occurs if your boot partition is either a fs type grub can't handle or inside a lvm or encrypted. I'd advise to check for this things first...

Solved !
Indeed, the fact is that i installed grub on my main parition, which is ext4. But Grub doesn't understand ext4, so when you put a external boot partition in ext2, it all works fine !
