I'm having problems on my new low power server. My goal is just to use the console and no X environment, since I rarely log in directly and mostly use SSH. It uses pentium-m processor and motherboard with the GPU that comes with it:

Code:

lspci
00:00.0 Host bridge: Intel Corporation Mobile 915GM/PM/GMS/910GML Express Processor to DRAM Controller (rev 03)
00:02.0 VGA compatible controller: Intel Corporation Mobile 915GM/GMS/910GML Express Graphics Controller (rev 03)

04:00.0 RAID bus controller: Silicon Image, Inc. SiI 3132 Serial ATA Raid II Controller (rev 01)
05:03.0 FireWire (IEEE 1394): Agere Systems FW322/323 (rev 61)

The result/output is like this: http://www.aijaa.com/v.php?i=000728322534.png

I should have http://en.gentoo-wiki.com/wiki/KMS correctly set up as well as intel gma options on the kernel. The problem comes when I run programs like emerge. During compilation it starts to flicker and when it's idle it's as it should be. Would anyone have any ideas what causes this ?

Another problem that I have, is that the screen won't go to power saving mode/turn off the output.
