I have a problem. Sensors-detect doesn't see my Fintek F75387 chip on my MSI P67A-GD80 Mainboard. To load the module F75387s manually doesn't do me any good.
I think I narrowed this problem down to Intel SMBUS.
when I do lspci, its output is:

#lspci -k -nn
Code:
...
00:1f.3 SMBus [0c05]: Intel Corporation 6 Series/C200 Series Chipset Family SMBus Controller [8086:1c22] (rev 05)
Subsystem: Micro-Star International Co., Ltd. Device [1462:7672]
Kernel modules: i2c_i801
...

However, i2detect -l doesn't show me any intel SMBUS, I only see NVIDIA i2c adpters, as you can see:
# i2cdetect -l
Code:
i2c-0   i2c          NVIDIA i2c adapter 0 at 1:00.0     I2C adapter
i2c-1   i2c          NVIDIA i2c adapter 1 at 1:00.0     I2C adapter
i2c-2   i2c          NVIDIA i2c adapter 2 at 1:00.0     I2C adapter
i2c-3   i2c          NVIDIA i2c adapter 6 at 1:00.0     I2C adapter
i2c-4   i2c          NVIDIA i2c adapter 8 at 1:00.0     I2C adapter

Maybe I should say additionally, that this problem started occuring after a BIOS update. Before I was able to see the F75387, now I see a different chip, the Fintek F71889A which I could not see before.
sensors-detect's System "Headline" is:

#sensors detect:
Code:
# sensors-detect revision 6170 (2013-05-20 21:25:22 +0200)
# System: MSI MS-7672 [2.1]
# Board: MSI P67A-GD80 (MS-7672)
...

Within Windows I am still able to see the fans controlled by Fintek F75387, the tool Speedfan shows me F75387 at Intel SMBUS $2E

Could you please tell me whether I am right with suspecting Intel SMBUS or the driver i2c_i801 being the problem?
How can I narrow down this problem even further?
Please help me, my knowledge of Linux is fairly limited.
