Hi!

I setup a neat little Gentoo server a few weeks ago, and got the idea to install Gnome today. I am not well experienced, and even though I've used Gentoo before, I still don't really know how to deal with USE flags but rather following suggestions and using common sense when trying to install something.

Anyway, after a bit of tweaking my make.conf file I actually managed to emerge Gnome (yay!). After about 300 packages the process halted on net-im/empathy-3.8.6 with the error "emake failed".

Now afterwards, I am not able to ssh to my server. Putty terminates instantly after entering my username. Apparently this have to do with that there is no authentication method available. I looked and saw that my sshd_config was modified in the installation procedure, a line saying "usePAM yes" was added and on boot it says that it is an unidentified command.

What should I do now? :)

Would the best way be to try and get rid of my failed Gnome installation and try again, and how does one go on about doing that?

Any input on how to brighten my day appreciated!

Managed to fix it. Note to self: be patient, read, and enjoy the ride.
