os : win7 64bits
compiler : vc2008
emerge : from kde(http://techbase.kde.org/Getting_Started/Build/Windows/emerge)
package needed : openldap

According to this post(https://forums.gentoo.org/viewtopic-t-989710.html), the openldap ebuild, ssl is not enabled by default
how could I enabled the ssl?

My questions

1 : Can't find the file "package.use" in the kderoot, should I create it by myself?

2 : Where should I place "package.use" it if I create it?

3 : What should I type in the "package.use"?
Code:
USE_FLAG : ssl
?
or
Code:
"net-nds/openldap ssl"
USE_FLAG : ssl

or
Code:
USE="ssl"

4 : What is the meaning of "net-nds"? How could I know what should I placed before the openldap?
ex : According to the tutorial(http://www.gentoo.org/doc/en/handbook/handbook-x86.xml?part=2&chap=2)
if I don't want berkdb support globally but mysql, I could use
Code:
dev-db/mysql berkdb

but how could I know it is "dev-db" but not "net-nds"?

1/ yes
2/ default portage file are /etc/portage
hint: make.conf should also be there, so if you don't know where to put it, check where is your make.conf
3/ format is always same in portage
category/package useflag
so:
Code:
net-dns/openldap ssl

4/ its the package category, where the package is in the portage tree
you can seek out the portage tree to find openldap place in the tree or just ask portage and it will tell you what openldap it knows and answer the category
Code:
emerge -s openldap
*  net-nds/openldap
      Latest version available: 2.4.38-r1
      Latest version installed: 2.4.38-r1
      Size of files: 5,388 kB
      Homepage:      http://www.OpenLDAP.org/
Description:   LDAP suite of application and development tools
      License:       OPENLDAP

You can also browse gentoo package browsing site like : http://packages.gentoo.org/package/net-nds/openldap

But I can't find make.conf, is this file neccessary fot the portage.use to work?

Quote:

emerge -s openldap

Looks like under win7 the emerge do not support "-s"
But thanks for your explanation now I know why it is "net-nds"

This is the procedures I build the openldap, it do not support ssl even I add "net-nds/openldap ssl"

0 : download emerge from kde by git

1 : create portage.use as following

Code:
C:\kderoot\etc\portage\portage.use

The content of portage.use

Code:
net-nds/openldap ssl

2 : use the command
Code:
emerge openldap

3 : query to the openldap server with ssl, the ldapsearch from other package works, but the ldapsearch builded by emerge don't work

What kind of errors I commit? Thanks

I don't know, are you sure the kde emerge tools is really portage?
They could just share names.

If your kde emerge is a kde tools and not a portage prefix env, then nothing could be done.

Not sure, maybe I should go to the kde forum and ask them.
However, thanks for your helps.

You are aware that it is a KDE-emerge problem, and that it is not a Gentoo product, right?

This means that you are not using a Gentoo Prefix, but just a KDE Tool to build KDE4Win.
