Hello guys,

I'm planning to reinstall my Gentoo Linux on my very old play-around/mess-around computer and, as you can probably think of, this will take a long time. :? My second (main) computer has very much power would be able to finish this in much less time. :)

My idea: As I need my Windows to work with, I wanted to compile the Gentoo files inside my running Windows and then (automatically) transfer them to my old machine over Ethernet. Doing only the compilation part on dedicated threads and the rest of the installation on the old computer.

I am a not to old newbie to Gentoo and Linux (started about 1 month ago with it) but already did several installations of this distribution, one including systemd.

I hope you can help me and thank you in advance for every answer. :D

If you actually want to compile on the new computer, you could maybe install Gentoo on a virtual machine, set up DistCC on that, SSH into your old one, and update it using the DistCC server on the new one.
