PostPosted: Thu Jun 05, 2014 1:09 pm    Post subject: perl-cleaner complains about missing dbus IUSE flag [SOLVED] Reply with quote

When I try to upgrade my system I couldn't get one of the perl packages to emerge. dbus is set in my use flags in make.conf. I want to move to systemd, and currently have openrc.
Code:

emerge: there are no ebuilds built with USE flags to satisfy ">=dev-qt/qtgui-4.8.0:4[accessibility,dbus]".
!!! One of the following packages is required to complete your request:
- dev-qt/qtgui-4.8.5-r2::gentoo (Missing IUSE: dbus)
- dev-qt/qtgui-4.8.5-r1::gentoo (Missing IUSE: dbus)
(dependency required by "kde-base/kdelibs-4.10.3-r2" [installed])
(dependency required by "sys-auth/polkit-kde-agent-0.99.0-r1" [installed])
(dependency required by "sys-auth/polkit-0.110[kde]" [installed])
(dependency required by "sys-auth/consolekit-0.4.5_p20120320-r1" [installed])
(dependency required by "sys-auth/pambase-20101024-r2[consolekit]" [installed])
(dependency required by "sys-libs/pam-1.1.6-r2" [installed])
(dependency required by "virtual/pam-0" [installed])
(dependency required by "sys-libs/libcap-2.22-r2" [installed])
(dependency required by "app-misc/pax-utils-0.7[caps]" [installed])
(dependency required by "sys-apps/portage-2.2.8-r1" [installed])
(dependency required by "dev-java/java-config-2.2.0" [installed])
(dependency required by "sys-libs/db-4.8.30[java]" [installed])
(dependency required by "dev-lang/perl-5.16.3[berkdb]" [installed])
(dependency required by "dev-perl/DateManip-6.310.0" [ebuild])
(dependency required by "dev-perl/DateManip:0" [argument])

Any suggestions?

Could you post the output of
Code:
emerge -1vp qtgui
please?

It appears that one of the packages that require qtgui specify that it be built with the dbus use flag. Portage is complaining that the qtgui packages available to it in the tree do not support that flag.

I cannot think of a simple solution for this just now.
It appears you replied with a private message by mistake. Yes, I just noticed this. This might be because your system is somewhat out of date. Have you completed a full update, e.g.,
Code:
emerge -uDNv --with-bdeps=y @world
? It appears you haven't because your kdelibs is quite out of date. Several of the clean-up tools (e.g., perl-cleaner, python-updater) only work well on up to date systems.

I removed packages found by
Code:
equery list \* | grep kde

I also removed openrc and installed systemd, and when it removed udev it complained about possibly making my system unusable.

Code:
emerge -uDNv --with-bdeps=y @world

This resulted in kde-env being installed again. Then emerge attempted to install dev-perl/File-MimeInfo-0.170.0.

Code:

I found this topic, which I think will get me moving in the correct direction:

https://forums.gentoo.org/viewtopic-t-989046.html?sid=a2bff20161d9a0baf8652b206a257d51

Particularly, perl-cleaner requires openrc or it won't work. Also, there are probably obsolete perl packages installed.

So this command in the above post looks promising:

Code:
perl-cleaner --all -- --exclude=perl-core/Module-CoreList

@John - I sent the PM because I saw that you were helping and I had to be away, so I gave you what I had come up with to that point.

@johnklug - since it complained
Code:
    !  File::BaseDir is not installed
    !  File::DesktopEntry is not installed

I might have done
Code:
emerge -1 File-BaseDir File-DesktopEntry

I am not sure what the command you are trying will do.

The perl-cleaner worked mostly. There were some blocked packages having to do with udev and openrc and systemd. I restarted the emerge of the whole system, and I am now past the perl hangup, which is why I ran the perl-cleaner.

Sorry I didn't get to try:
Code:
emerge -1 File-BaseDir File-DesktopEntry

but removing all my kde packages definitely helped. I don't think I need them to upgrade my system, and I can always put them back later. I didn't have too many.
