This is my first install. Using the generic kernel. When I reboot after install per handbook, the box hangs at uevents waiting....

What to do now?

I am noob and did not understand any of the similar posts about this problem.

I tried turning off and unplugging hardware. No-go. It still hangs up at "Waiting for uevents to be processed ...."

It boots from the USB install disk fine. Any suggestions?

Brownsnowstorm ...

its either a hardware issue and/or a problem loading/initalising a driver/module. Difficult to guess what without further information, but most often its video cards/drivers, nvidia?

best ... khay

I was using the generic kernel. I recompiled a custom kernel and it worked ok. I dont know why it would not work with the kernel that includes more. Thanks all.
