I am dual booting on a MacBook Pro Retina (latest-ish model, i5) using rEFInd. I had everything basically working, KDE, backlight, keyboard backlight, sound, wi-fi, etc. Seemingly randomly (I must have done something), my keyboard and mouse stopped working upon boot. At first, I thought it was KDE, but I do not event have keyboard input in the standard login TTY either, after having disabled xdm from an ubuntu chroot. Since then, I have:

Re emerged xorg-server and all x11-drivers, including evdev, synaptics, keboard, mouse
    Recompiled my kernel
    Switched to systemd
    Changed to kernel 3.15.2

But nothing seems to help.

Here is my latest /var/log/messages:

And my latest .config:

Order may be important. Did you rebuild x11-drivers _after_ recompiling/upgrading kernel?

Now, that you have kernel 3.15.2 try
Code:
emerge @x11-module-rebuild
. Other things might have changed. Would a world update help?

And your kernel have usb3 disable? I would expect usb3 from "latest-ish model" no?
# CONFIG_USB_XHCI_HCD is not set

Thankyou krinn, that was it. For next time, I will remember lspci -k, which is how I discovered that I might be needing that.
