apache is the only package that uses apache2_modules auth_digest why do I need it. If it is so damn vital why isn't just a default.

also I'm updating my laptop why is it insisting that I have apache2 installed. I'm not running a web server from the commuter rail.

TIA

Ouch. Ok it looks like you've installed Gnome3 which explains why systemd wants to get installed.

Apache is used for this weird user file sharing program that's part of Gnome. Currently there's no way around it but there have been a lot of bug reports about it.

Apparently gnome-user-share requests these modules. If you were setting up an Apache server standalone, you don't necessarily need to have this set up, hence an option.
