Hi,

I am trying to use my Epson Stylus DX4400 with Gentoo. According to http://gimp-print.sourceforge.net/p_Supported_Printers.php it should work using Gutenprint.

I can find it using lsusb:
Code:
Bus 001 Device 034: ID 04b8:083f Seiko Epson Corp. Stylus CX4300/CX4400/CX5500/CX5600/DX4400/DX4450

But it is not found when trying to add a printer via cups. I can only see entries in the category "Other network printers" category there.

I read that there could be problems, when the usblp module is loaded, but it is not. In fact CONFIG_USB_PRINTER is not even set. I tried compiling cups with and without the "usb" use flag with the same result.

Do you have any ideas?

Thank you!

edit: I found the solution. Enabling CONFIG_USB_PRINTER in the kernel and setting "-usb" for cups made the printer available.
