I can't seem to get my wireless device to work. In the logs I see messages about Missing Free Software, Couldn't request the fw.

I've installed the firmware package, and used CONFIG_EXTRA_FIRMWARE to add it to the kernel. It compiles and installs successfully. But, I still get the same message. The firmware is iwlwifi-7260. I'm using the deblobbed kernel if that makes a difference.

EDIT: The .config file is http://ix.io/dWA

I'm also using systemd if that makes any difference either.

By design you can't load proprietary firmware if you use a deblobbed kernel. If you really need the firmware recompile the kernel without the "deblob" USE flag.

I've done that now, and it loads successfully. But, looking through the logs there are still messages about failing a direct load or something. So, even with the blobbed kernel, it appears to not be loading the compiled in firmware, but falling back to loading external firmware. I thought that the deblobbed kernel would still work with firmware explicitly compiled into it using CONFIG_EXTRA_FIRMWARE, but that doesn't appear to work with either kernel.
